In this video, FreeFlyer calculates the delta-V cost of transferring a Spacecraft from low-Earth orbit to a lunar mapping orbit. Three possible launch times are considered, shown in Blue, Red, and Green. For each of these launch times, FreeFlyer is executing a series of Target loops to optimize the delta-V at each stage of the mission. The three stage targeting process is as follows:
- Target the RAAN (Right Ascension of the Ascending Node) and Argument of Perigee of the initial parking orbit to achieve a particular B-plane.
- Target the delta-V required at the first periselene to achieve lunar capture.
- Target the delta-V required at the second periselene for insertion into lunar mapping orbit.
